Labour Community Advocate Training Level 1

The CLC and United Way partner in offering a Labour Community Advocate Training.

The program provides an opportunity for Labour Community Advocates from different unions affiliated to the Canadian Labour Congress to discuss their experiences and share ideas. 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm (9 sessions total)
Place: Niagara Regional Labour Council office, 1 Ormond Street South, Thorold

Labour Community Advocates have three roles:

Welland Canal Fallen Workers Memorial Unveiling Ceremony

The NRLC and many non affiliated labour union locals jointly contributed $25,000 to make the Welland Canal Fallen Workers memorial possible. We will be at the unveiling ceremony on Sunday, November 12, to honour the workers who were killed on the job building the Welland canal.

WHERE:1932 Welland Canals Pkwy, Lock Three, just north of the
St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
WHEN:Sunday, November 12, 2017, 2 pm
WHO:All are invited to join with family members and descendants of the fallen workers

Not long after the canal opened in 1932, Robert James Manion, then federal minister of railways and canals promised a memorial to the men who died and recognition to the thousands who toiled on this massive and dangerous construction effort. Nothing ever came of this pledge—until now.
