OPSEU Information Picket

On Saturday, January 24, the NRLC delegates participated in a solidarity rally for staff workers employed by Care Partners, a private for-profit company. More than 18 months ago the workers chose to be represented by OPSEU, yet the employer disrespects this choice.

The workers deliver nursing services to residents in our community. They want a collective agreement that can give them respect and protections against arbitrary, unfair and exploitative working conditions.
Collective Bargaining is a Right!

SAVE WELLAND HOSPITAL! Public Meeting

The fight to preserve the Rose City’s hospital will continue with a public meeting this Sunday, January 11, 2015.
Niagara Health Coalition has organized its next Save Our Welland Hospital meeting, which will take place at 2 p.m. in the Welland Civic Square community room, 60 East Main Street.

“We’ll be providing an update on the activity we’ve had to date, as well as what we’re planning,” said coalition co-chair Sue Hotte.
A new petition calling for the hospital to remain open is expected to be launched Sunday and details will be released about upcoming fundraisers.
“We’ve been moving forward quite quickly,” she said.
Hotte urged people to get involved and become informed about the impact the closure of the hospital will have.
“We need everyone on board to show we need to keep the hospital and its services,” she said.
“It’s not a done deal. We can save this hospital.”
